Prague: CIANT, CESNET, and DOX Museum

Friday October 11th, we went to three different locations throughout the day. We went to CIANT (International Center for Art and New Technoogies), Cesnet, and the DOX museum. After an adventurous and long walk in the mooring we made it to CIANT and met Pavel, who started CIANT. E started off by telling us about his life and how he has lived in the Czech Republic and France were he was a teacher. He told use how CIANT brings different scientists, engineers, and artists together to work on projects together. He showed us a current project where touching the screen generates music and a visual is created. It is a way of making music and visuals more interactive.  A Kinect was used a modified to create this and also the colors and sounds change depending on how much you push the screen in. At

Cesnet, we got to see different networking rooms and storage rooms. One really cool project they showed us is a 3D mapping project. They used projectors to display the screens in a box-like room. To experience the interactivity of it you use the 3D glasses and controller to move around. One of the displays we saw is a mapping of Prague, and we got to explore the city through the visual and the controller. It felt like we were hovering over the city as we traveled through different areas.

Lastly we went to the DOX museum, and got to see the main exhibit called “Where is my Home”, which is based on current Prague and Czech Republic issues. One work that I found interesting is the Where is my Home Go Fish Card Game. It is based on things and people that are worshipped in the culture. Another piece I found intriguing is an image of all the items of a young man in his thirties. The image is depicted from the top view perspective, and I think that it is interesting to see all of the items a person supposedly needs today to live on.
