UMaine Motivators has been a fun project to be a part of. We have all grown and learned a lot this semester about what leads to true happiness and that its alright to not always be happy, because thats life after all. Everyone has their ups and downs, so as a group we wanted to figure out how to motivate everyone in some the best we could. We targeted the UMaine campus and have worked through the semester designing a chalkboard wall for students answer a question. For the question we picked “What is your greatest fear?” It helps people to really think about what they are truly afraid of whether it be failure, the future, or spiders. We got many different responses and it was a good way to annoymously ask the student population a question. After seeing the responses, it has helped to give us insight on ways we can motivate students on campus. We can post motivational things on social media or around campus relating to what students are struggling with and what they really fear. As a group, this project has helped as all in some way. I personally have been struggling with so many different things in my life this semester and it has been difficult to stay motivated. But, working on this project has opened my eyes to what really leads to happiness in life.
My role in the UMaine Motivators group has been to help with the social media part of the project. Which involved keeping the Facebook and Twitter pages up to date. Also getting the word out about the project. To move the project forward I have helped with the painting process of the chalkboard wall (documented part of it). I created the image for the Facebook/Twitter pages. I did some research on happiness to help figure out what motivates students and how we can help. Overall, we worked together as a group to get everything done.
